It's no surprise that Vita Enterprise Solutions chooses to partner with Apple for many of our Mobility Managed Solutions. Apple's success has come about for many reasons, but one of its big selling points has always been its user-friendly technology. Apple makes things people like using. It's true of their devices but also the software and value-added features that come with them. For enterprises or organisations considering a mobility rollout and weighing up what devices to equip their workforce with, or for institutions that already have a fleet of iOS devices, Apple offers a service - the Device Enrolment Program - that gives it yet another edge over its competitors. Seamless rollout Apple's Device Enrolment Program (DEP) is designed to help businesses, educational institutions and organisations easily deploy and configure their iOS devices and Mac computers. The service simplifies the setup process by enabling you to, among other things, configure the devices without touching them. Devices can be pre-loaded automatically and ready to use to your specifications when they arrive in their wrapping, saving a lot of time and hassle for the IT department. The DEP takes much of the grunt work out of large-scale deployments of iPad, iPhone and Mac. Once users activate their devices, you can immediately configure account settings, apps and access to IT services over the air. You don’t need to physically access each device to complete the setup. (Some clients may require DOA checking, asset tracking, SIM installation, case fitting, user specified dispatch and track - services that are available through Vita Enterprise Solutions Mobility Managed Services.) The DEP also makes it easier for users to kick-start their own iOS devices and Macs. Using a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to configure your devices, users are guided through the activation process with the built-in Setup Assistant. You can streamline the Setup Assistant even further by specifying that certain screens be skipped. Simply superior By automating MDM enrolment and supervision of devices during setup, bottlenecks are eliminated. Your iOS devices can be preconfigured to require automatic enrolment in MDM. Automatic enrolment ensures that devices are configured based on your organisation’s requirements, and guarantees that all users receive those configurations on their devices. You can also lock users’ devices into MDM for ongoing management. Eye in the sky Another of the DEP's winning features is its wireless supervision capabilities, which provide a higher level of device management for institution-owned iOS devices. It allows additional restrictions - such as turning off iMessage, AirDrop or Game Centre - and device configurations and features, such as web-content filtering and single-app mode. With the DEP, you can wirelessly enable supervision mode on a device as part of the setup process. You can also wipe a device remotely, giving peace of mind in case of loss or theft, or an employee leaving the business. "The security benefits alone make the DEP a compelling choice," says Peter Hobbins, Vita Enterprise Solutions' Practice Lead for Mobility. Vita Enterprise Solutions and DEP make sense Mobility is changing the way we work and learn, and businesses and institutions which don't embrace it will be left behind. But it can be a daunting process to investigate and determine what the best solution is for you, not to mention the risks and costs that could haunt you if you get it wrong. Vita Enterprise Solutions has a proven track record in delivering effective Mobility Managed Solutions, in partnership with key stakeholders such as Apple and Telstra, to businesses and institutions big and small across Australia. "Our association with Apple and our ability to get the best out of the DEP for your enterprise makes Vita the logical choice when considering a Mobility solution," says Peter Hobbins.
